The nationality principle
WebNationality is one of two principles that support the exercise of jurisdiction by reference to a person involved in the conduct at issue. (The other principle is passive personality, described in the section immediately following.) What matters in this first instance is the nationality of the Nationality law can be broadly categorized into three principles: 1. jus soli, or right by birth on the soil; 2. jus sanguinis, or right of the blood; and 3. jus matrionii, or right of marriage.
